Build My Life – HouseFires
I’d like to share to you “Build my Life” and why it has become one of my favorite songs ever. The song is all about building your life in Jesus’s name.

The songs starts off with phrases that speak of how our Lord is worthy and the lyrics give me an overwhelmed feeling of being safe and guided him. In the phrase “We live for you” this truly shows how we can build our life around him and how we can trust on him and lean on him whenever we are in trouble.

Open up my eyes in wonder

And fill me with your heart
And lead me in love to those around me
I personally love the chorus as it tells the story about how we were lost and then Jesus has saved us and filled us with his love and then is leading us to love others the way he has loved us. This chorus definitely has the most meaning to me as a person.
And I will build my life upon your love
It is a firm foundation
I will put my trust in you alone
And I will not be shaken
This bridge makes me cry all the time. It’s just so emotional and heartfelt that as I sing my heart out then I definitely feel the Lord working through me and fixing problems that I have been struggling to deal with. It tells us how strong our Lord’s love is and that we should form our life around him because he is a firm foundation. In the line ‘I will put my trust in you alone and I will not be shaken’ Pat Barrett, the author, relates it to Luke chapter 6, where a man dug a hole and built his house on the rock, and when the storm came, the house stayed firm in it’s foundation. This really shows us how we can build our life on Jesus’ foundation and that we can all trust in the way he forms our lives around him.
