Great Things
This week let’s talk about one of our newer songs. Great Things is full of uplifting lyrics that remind me that I can have confidence that God will not let me down.

The songs starts with a call that we see throughout the psalms; to come and worship, to come and bow, to remind ourselves what our God has done. This then forms the drive for the whole song which by remembering God’s faithfulness in the past, drives us to trust that he will be there for us again.
The chorus begins with a phrase that I love, O hero of heaven, which is obviously not a well used reference to God but encapsulates him so well. I like that Phil Wickham has taken time to be creative in the way he addresses God instead of resting in what has been used before. The chorus then pushes us to respond to what Jesus has done by dancing and celebrating and lifting his name high.
Finally the bridge reminds us God is above it all and unshakable, which is a fantastic truth and a brilliant rhyme and in all of this calls us to praise God’s name.
This song is so much fun to play, but I find great encouragement when I sing it too, and my prayer is the same could be said for you too!
