King of my heart – Daniel

Berowrabaps   -

 King of My Heart

Let the King of my heart
Be the mountain where I run
The fountain I drink from
Oh, He is my song
Let the King of my heart
Be the shadow where I hide
The ransom for my life
Oh, He is my song

‘Cause You are good
You are good, oh oh
And let the King of my heart
Be the wind inside my sails
The anchor in the waves
Oh oh, He is my song
Let the King of my heart
Be the fire inside my veins
The echo of my days
Oh oh, He is my song

You’re never gonna let

You’re never gonna let me down

Hello church, I’m Daniel and I play keyboard for our church worship team, and today I would like to share my thoughts on one of my favourite songs, King of my heart, which is a song that has been covered before but I think that I have a different insight.

King of my heart is a song that I go to when I feel overwhelmed or when I feel as though I’m stuck and in the current climate of Coronavirus its been a real help. In my mind, this is a song of comfort and reassurance in the goodness of God and its a song of a declaration on who God is.  For in the verses its declarations of what we want the “king of our heart” to be and this really helps me because I often forget to ask God for help,  for I fall under the typical male attitude of “I can handle it by myself”,  and the verses of this song just remind me to look to God with my problems, and that even if I think I can handle it God is here to help me through anything.

The chorus of this song is repeating the lyric “you are good”  and this is a reminder that God is good, and this can sometimes be hard to remember in hard times, but it is a fact even though sometimes we question Gods goodness, and this is okay, and even though that almost all of the time we will never understand why certain things in our lives happen, but this chorus is there to comfort us in these times and remind us that God is in fact good.

The bridge is also on the same theme, but it’s in a less metaphysical sense,  the lyric that is repeated is “you’re never gonna let me down”.  And this is a reminder that God is here for all of us, and he will not let us down, even in the darkest time,  God is there, and this is a real comfort to me and I hope to you.

The song can be found on youtube here but also in our spotify playlist!
