This week we’re looking at a song called All Glory written by Nikki Fletcher for Worship Central. This song is just so great to sing, it’s got wonderful harmonies if you’re the sort of person who loves to sing them, it’s got a fantastic melody with high notes that for me really draw me into the song as a singer.
It’s quite simple in terms of ideas and concepts; obviously centred around giving God glory for all that He has done. And we see similar ideas to what we’ve seen in other songs recently too! Obviously God’s love for us is a massive reason why we want to give Him glory, but the truth that His love is stronger than our shame is wonderful to reflect upon. That when we find ourselves walking away from God His love brings no guilt or shame but instead always welcomes us back to Him. Then when we call to mind God’s promises to us that we see throughout His word and how faithful He has been to them, we can celebrate that His word is unshakable. We can build a foundation on His promises for us because He will not let us down.
When she talks about the song, Nikki says this is a song that reminds her that no matter where she goes, what she does or even what she achieves, God’s love for her is constant. The song is loosely based around the Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians in chapter 3 where he speaks of how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, which leads into a declaration of all glory to the one who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine!
The chorus obviously picks up on this language and the melody of the song just lends itself to be a declaration of what we’re singing. I find it’s the chorus that really draws me in, which then as the song crescendos to a massive bridge. And isn’t our hearts cry to see Jesus lifted higher and higher?
For our God does stand above everything and every one. There is no one like him, no god can stand against him and so we want to see our God in His rightful place.

20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
